New order for hygiene paper high bay warehouse in Poland

SSI Schaefer Giebelstadt successfully continues focus in branch solutions. The Italian manufacturer of hygienic paper, Cartarie Trouchetti S.p.A (ICT) now entrusted the system supplier with the palnning and turn-key building of a modern warehouse complex for its production location of ICT Poland Sp. z o.o in Kostryzn/Oder. By the middle of 2010, a distribution center with a floor space of approximately 16,000 square meters will be built there. A high bay warehouse (HBW) with 60,000 pallet storage locations for the double-deep storing of TISSUE products on Euro and Chep pallets will be the core piece. Nine storage and retrieval machines with 2 parallel double-deep load handling devices (LHM) make for an hourly throughput up to 600 pallets. At the loading docks of shipping area, up to 460 pallets per hour can be loaded - this equates to about 15 truck-loads per hour.

With its performance spectrum, the system is already designed for the manufacturers increase in production. Furthermore, an option for another stage of expansion with an additional 30,000 pallet storage locations will be incorporated in the planning.

Besides the steel contruction for the high bay warehouse, the scope of supply and services of the intralogistics specialist located in Giebelstadt includes a two kilometer long pallet conveyor system connecting the warehouse to the production facilities as well as the proven warehouse management system (WMS) by SSI Schaefer. In addition to controlling the flow of material the WMS is also equipped with functions to control storage and retrieval machines in order to provide efficient, data-transmission controlled person-to-material order picking. Furthermore, the WMS offers a yard management function to monitor movements.

With this order SSI Schaefer underline once more its leading position for complex system solutions in the TISSUE industry.
