Warehousing of SSI Schaefer in demand in Scandinavia

The Danish JYSK concern, being present with the trademark „Dänisches Bettenlager“ (furniture retail business) in Germany, relies on SSI Schaefer for the installation of its new logistics center.

The laying of the foundation stone for the new logistics center of the JYSK concern has been carried out at Uldum in Denmark a few days ago. The biggest logistic center of Denmark should arise there in the open countryside until end of 2008. The whole complex contains a base of 65,000 square meters as well as three high-bay warehouses with 40 meters height each and with a total volume of 134,700 pallet locations. The Scandinavian concern invests more than 100 million Euro for its new logistics center. The award of contract for all Material Handling Equipment and WMS of this project has been received by SSI Schaefer acting as the general contractor.

The specialists for warehousing are going to forward the progress themselves with the start of the rack assembly. Among others 21 storage and retrieval machines (SRMs) with two load suspensions devices each for double-deep storage will be implemented then. Furthermore the implementation of 24 order-picking stations for pallets and trays as well as two automatic miniload systems with further 12 SRM and 30,000 tray locations is intended. Additionally SSI Schaefer implements the complete pallet and tray conveying system including a pallet floor conveyor. The information-technology basis for the control of the operational processes will be the material flow and warehouse management computers implemented by SSI Schaefer.
